10th Anniversary of Financial Education Day

Bankinter and its Commitment to Financial Education

Bankinter is one of the entities that has shown the greatest commitment to inclusive and accessible financial education.

Over the last 10 years, more than 1,000 Bankinter volunteers have been involved in the various technical volunteering programmes in an effort that, together with the launch of the digital financial education platforms “ Money Town ” and “ Game of Traders ”, has managed to train 60,000 beneficiaries.

This year also marks the tenth anniversary of the program “Your finances, your future”, aimed at secondary school students, in collaboration with the Junior Achievement Foundation and the AEB . This program has trained 8,648 students on key concepts: savings , investment and financial management . After the training, 81% say they have become aware of the importance of saving, 76% recognize the characteristics of a responsible consumer, and 74% have managed to manage financial decision-making.

In addition, the bank has been developing financial education programmes aimed at other groups, such as people with intellectual disabilities with the Adecco Foundation , people with hearing disabilities with the CNSE (National Confederation of Deaf People) and other groups at risk of social exclusion, in collaboration with the Integra Foundation, with which 3,000 people have been trained.

Furthermore, the bank has launched a financial and digital education programme aimed at senior citizens in collaboration with SECOT (Spanish Seniors for Technical Cooperation), with the aim of reducing the digital divide and facilitating the use of online banking for this group, which has benefited 248 people.

Innovative Initiatives: Money Town

Among Bankinter's notable initiatives is “Money Town”, a digital platform that, through a simulation game, teaches secondary and high school students how to manage their money in a fun and practical way. This tool has been used by more than 35,554 users and continues to grow in popularity. “Money Town” offers an interactive environment where children can learn about the importance of saving, financial planning and making responsible economic decisions.

On the other hand, the Game of Traders platform has introduced 8,875 university students to concepts related to equity investment .

Challenges in Financial Skills

Despite these efforts, the results of the latest PISA report reveal that young Spaniards still face significant challenges in financial skills, being 12 points below the OECD average. Aware of this reality, Bankinter has stepped up its efforts to offer accessible and quality educational resources, with the involvement of volunteers from the bank who, in an altruistic and selfless manner, have wanted to share their financial knowledge and skills so that the most vulnerable groups know how to make informed financial decisions.
